L1 Routesetting Clinic for underrepresented routesetters

 We are proud to partner with USA Climbing and Uplift Climbing to host another free L1 Routesetting Clinic for underrepresented routesetters. The clinic will take place at Uplift Climbing in Shoreline, WA (just north of Seattle) on December 14–15, 2025.

Eligibility

This L1 clinic is intended for underrepresented routesetters who:

• Have at least six months of professional routesetting experience.
• Are interested in setting for USA Climbing competitions.
• Are 16 years of age or older.

Application Process

Individuals who identify as part of an underrepresented group in the routesetting industry are encouraged to apply by September 28, 2025 at this link.

Selection Process

Applications will be anonymized to the greatest extent possible and reviewed by a committee of five to seven underrepresented routesetters holding an L1 or higher certification. Each application will be evaluated by at least three committee members. Scores will then be combined to identify the top 18 applicants.

The committee will prioritize applicants who demonstrate:

• A strong passion for climbing and routesetting.
• A commitment to engaging with USAC competitions.
• The potential to serve as future leaders and mentors within the routesetting community.
